Some fiction is true.

Truth, however, is a matter of perspective.

Dear Reader/Listener/Viewer/Participator:

Lest I be judged for it, I inform you now that this project continues to be a scratch pad, a space for experimentation. In other words, enjoy what you find here, and feel free to participate -- but try not to take anything personal, and don't believe that this project presents an accurate view of me or my life. This is a window, certainly, but one that hasn't been cleaned in quite some time. Your view may be foggy, obscure...you may see things that aren't really there...

--Harold

Want some background music? Please consider tuning in to my Internet radio station VoyagerRadio, which is currently and illegally podcasting Tempo of the Down.

All my respect to the best storyteller I've ever listened to:

Joe Frank

And yes, I love my mom and my dad; they were always good to me, no matter what impression you may have received here. They never locked me in a cellar or anything.

How's this for a rainy-day theme? First, Sunday night's audio post as a direct download or stream [4.9MB MP3]. Previously it was only obtainable via BitTorrent. The post will not be included in the Something that Happened podcast feed; for an explanation as to why this and many other audio posts will not be included in the podcast, please read this post or listen to this audio post [6.8MB MP3]. As promised in Sunday night's audio post, here is also a recording of the rain [9MB MP3], as heard from my home in L.A. Now why on Earth would anyone want to hear that? Beats me - I just enjoy the sound of rain. Perhaps somebody'll want to use it as sound effects for their own podcast, or play it in the background while you're making love. If so, here's a link to the same audio at a higher quality. (You'll need a BitTorrent application to download the torrent.) I promise to begin producing better podcasts in the near future; I'm currently devoting alot of my time to seeking employment. If you'd like to help me earn a new Mac to help me in producing podcasts faster, please consider signing up for the free Mac mini deal. It's completely legit and it won't cost you a direct cent (email me and I'll explain), though you may get spammed the hell out of if you sign up. Just make sure to use an email account you don't mind having spammed. (If you need a Gmail account, which handles spam quite well, let me know if you need one and I'll send you an invite. Gmail accounts are currently only available by invite.) 2/22/2005 11:07:00 AM (0) comments

A quick audio post before I retire to bed; you'll have to download it as a torrent since I haven't had the time to encode it to a lower bitrate and upload it to my webhosting server yet. Here's the torrent: "Rain and Dying in Los Angeles". The title is a tribute to Hunter S. Thompson, who today has died, as the sound of thunder overwhelms and houses slide down the hills on this rainiest of days in Los Angeles. 2/20/2005 10:59:00 PM (0) comments

"I'm a Strange Angel" (6.8MB MP3 download/stream) In today's audio post I introduce you to a book I'm reading, Strange Angel by George Pendle. The biography details the life of John Whiteside Parson, a rocket scientist living in Los Angeles until his untimely death in 1952. Today's post will probably only be available via download here. I don't include every last audio post I make to this blog in my podcast feed, as I fear they may bore you to death, but you'll always be able to download any of my posts here at SomethingthatHappened.com. You may also join the torrent to receive the original and higher-quality MP3 of this audio post, including the five short audio posts made to this blog a few days ago. 2/20/2005 03:21:00 PM (0) comments

If you get a kick out of using BitTorrent, you may get the torrented version of the podcast recording "Arriving at SCALE" by accessing its torrent file. The torrented version has also been encoded at a higher bitrate; consider it your gift for helping preserve bandwidth by joining the torrent. (Don't worry about joining the torrent just to preserve my bandwidth, though - I'm using a service called Liberated Syndication which provides me with unmetered bandwidth. If you really want to help me out, consider taking advantage of this offer for a free Mac mini.) 2/14/2005 12:46:00 PM (0) comments

"Arriving at SCALE" (5.7MB MP3, stream or download) A ridiculous podcast in which I describe the experience of arriving at SCALE, the Southern California Linux Expo. The song "The Chase" used with permission of Baby Grand. Interviews from SCALE may soon be available at SomethingthatHappened.com, including interviews with the FlightGear crew, the LinuxChix, a Wikipedia developer, the Linux Astronomy collaboration, the LAMPSIG group, and SCALE's media representative. 2/13/2005 11:04:00 AM (0) comments
